Flying the Para-Monte flag
Fergus, an ARU research assistant and a keen mountain climber/hiker, reports on his 'real' life outdoor research project.
Fergus’ overview:
" I just got back from the second of two trips to the Alps and the Pyrenees representing Para-Monte, an altitude awareness charity.
I enjoyed long days trekking, whilst experimenting with pulse oxymeters, monitoring my response to altitude when climbing, descending and sleeping and currently in the process of trying to learn everything there is to know about altitude physiology and extreme environments.
Textbooks are great but there is nothing like getting out into the field to bring a topic to life! Photos are of the Mont Blanc massif in the alps and lake Gaube in the French Pyrenees. More posts to come, of my insights and thoughts from the trips".
We'd like to thank Fergus for his massive efforts and time during his summer break!
Looking forward to more lab research reports from ARU!
All the best @ para-monte.org
